73-Year-Old Man Dies in Pedestrian Accident near 8th Street

CHICO, CA (March 3, 2023) – Friday night, a pedestrian crash on Highway 32 claimed the life of Ezequiel Zepeda. On February 24th, at around 6:15 p.m., officers received a report about a pedestrian vs. vehicle crash at the intersection of Highway 32 and East 8th Street. Upon investigation, officers learned that 73-year-old Zepeda ran onto Highway 32 and attempted to cross the street. Furthermore, paramedics and fire deputies rushed out to the scene and performed life-saving measures. Unfortunately, Zepeda succumbed to his injuries. Meanwhile, the driver that hit Zepeda remained at the scene and cooperated with the deputies in charge. The driver was assessed and he showed no signs of impairment. A toxicology report on Zepeda will be available after the autopsy has finished.
