Driver Arrested after Fatally Striking Woman in California City Hit-and-Run

CALIFORNIA CITY, CA (October 19, 2021) – A hit-and-run crash in California City killed 31-year-old Eynelys Gonzalez Garcia Thursday Night.

Officers responded to the scene around 7:45 p.m., near the intersection of Shaw Street and Karen Avenue.

Upon arrival, authorities located a female victim lying unresponsive in the road. According to the investigators, eyewitnesses saw the woman struck by a vehicle while walking.

Following the impact, the driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Later on, police arrested the suspect and booked him into Kern County Jail in Bakersfield for suspicion of felony hit-and-run. However, his identity has not yet been provided.
