Jill L. Ferguson is a dynamic coach and award-winning writer with a wealth of experience in guiding individuals toward their dreams. Whether it’s writing a book or launching a business, Jill’s empathetic approach and keen intuition set her apart. She believes in the power of storytelling and personal growth, helping clients navigate their unique journeys. Here, she shares insights into her work and the transformative solutions she provides.

Hi Jill, tell me, What specific guidance do you offer clients who want to write and publish a book?
Clients come to me when they are sure about the next steps to take and they want guidance. If the client is interested in writing and publishing a book, the solutions I provide are counsel on how to successfully write a book and bring one to market, either through a traditional publisher or through any of the myriad of ways a person can self-publish, depending on the client’s goals and how far into the writing and editing process they are. I offer a number of packages or can customize my services.
How do you assist entrepreneurs in their business journeys?
If the client comes to me for self-employment or entrepreneurial guidance, we may work together once, periodically, or regularly (weekly for three or six months). The solutions are concrete action items regarding business direction, expansion, strategic planning, and following one’s passions and things that bring joy in a business environment.
What makes your coaching philosophy unique?
My philosophy, whether working with someone who wants to write a book, start or expand their business, or someone who isn’t sure which direction to go because they have so many ideas, is that coaching is unique to a client’s individual needs. I rely on my intuition and empathetic skills as much as on my ability to see the big picture as well as all of the weeds.
How do you approach client decision-making in your coaching sessions?
I rarely tell people what they need to do; instead, I ask them questions that help them look at things differently and help them draw their own conclusions. I also believe in the power of story, as a form of entertainment, as a way to tell the world who we are, and as something that can hold us back and keep us from soaring.
Can you share a bit about your background and how it informs your coaching?
Another thing that makes my business unique is the breadth and depth of experience I have had. I published my first piece of writing at age 12 and started my first business at age 18. I’ve worked for for-profit and non-profit companies, in higher ed and accreditation, and created curriculum and assessment strategies. My clients have said they wouldn’t make a business decision without my input, and one client claimed that I literally saved his life by showing him how to be successfully self-employed after being furloughed from a 30+ year career.
