A few weeks back, West Coast Sound contracted a mean case of the Wagner-mania, which has been sweeping the city since the announcement of L.A. Opera's first ever complete performance of Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen. We suggested some metal bands who could make for epic renditions of the masterpiece and update the sound for today's audiences. Although no metal heads have stepped forward yet, L.A.'s supreme beatmaster Daedelus has taken up the challenge to live remix the Ring in a one-of-a-kind performance at Santa Monica College this Saturday. Backed with video artists and the support of the Broad Stage's Ring Cycle project, we have no doubts that Daedelus' laptop wizardry and electronic experimentalism will make for an interesting piece of sonic art.

Yet updating the Ring isn't easy. Many have tried and few have succeeded. And we have the proof.

West Coast Sound scoured the internets for the worst renditions of Wagner and after the jump witness the best of the worst.

Worst Wagner Redux and remixes ever:

Ok, this one is not entirely terrible if you're a glow stick enthusiast.

Ok, it's not Wagner, but… sigh.
