Boyle Heights is calling today. Self Help Graphics & Art celebrates is new home with its famous Print Fair and Exhibition, where you can purchase serigraphs and monoprints from such local artists as Shizu Salamando, Jose Ramirez, Mario Calvano, Vyal Reyes and Ernesto Yerena. Says executive director Evonne J. Gallardo “Self Help Graphics & Art's new location is an exciting homecoming. We're proud to continue serving as a conduit for artists and innovative art production on the Eastside of L.A. Although it's still in its very raw stage, we continue hosting programming and serving our community with art workshops and events. Welcoming the public at this stage of our facility's process, allows everyone to see our 'before' and 'after.' Thanks to the work of so many artists, board members, and volunteers, Self Help Graphics & Art is doing better than ever. Events like our Annual Print Fair provide an opportunity for folks to support us in exchange for amazing art from some of the most talented Latino artists in our region. Meanwhile, there's the L.A. Taco Music Fest (First & Boyle, noon-8 p.m.; www.jovenesinc.org), making this an ideal Boyle Heights outing. Self Help Graphics, 1300 E. First St.; Sun., June 26, noon-5 p.m.; free. (also: there's a SHG fundraiser with Supervisor Gloria Molina and other local leaders on Fri., June 24, 7-10 p.m.; $150. (323) 881-6444; selfhelpgraphics.com)
