No-Contact Crash near State Route 62 Left 32-Year-Old Dead, 4 Injured

BANNING, CA (January 13, 2023) – Sunday night, a rollover crash on Interstate 10 claimed the life of Everardo Calvillo Jr.

The incident happened on Christmas day, at around 9:45 p.m., just west of State Route 62.

According to reports, a tractor-trailer made an unsafe lane change while going east on Interstate 10. This caused a Toyota Camry behind the big rig to swerve out of the way, lose control, travel off the south end of the road, and overturn. The impact of the collision ejected the driver, a 1-year-old girl, a 14-year-old girl, and a 15-year-old girl from the vehicle.

The driver, identified to be 32-year-old Everardo Calvillo Jr. of Twentynine Palms, died at the scene. Meanwhile, the 15-year-old girl and the baby sustained minor injuries and the 14-year-old girl sustained serious injuries. One passenger in the Camry, a 35-year-old woman, was not ejected from the vehicle and sustained minor injuries.

Police said the big rig driver did not stop and render aid to the victims.
