Composer-pianist Russell Steinberg performs a set of his own music at Zipper Hall.
The composer-pianist presents an evening with four of his works. The program includes the world premiere of Lights of Amethyst, in which Steinberg accompanies eerily enchanting soprano Hila Plitmann, as well as the West Coast premiere of Paleface, a multimedia piece inspired by the work of New York artist Jerry Kearns that will be performed by Trio Accento (and which will apparently also involve kazoos and video by Amanda Tiller).
The evening begins with pianist Steinberg unwinding “Starwheels,” followed by his Flute Sonata, sparked by noted local flutist Sara Andon and pianist Bryan Pezzone.
