L.A. band Runnner headlines The Echo with support from Beauty Queen Feb. 20.
Runnner fuses electronic and experimental elements into their ragged, heart-on-your-sleeve songs, a sound they jokingly refer to as “Bandcamp songs for SoundCloud kids.” Performing as a sprawling seven-piece band, featuring a saxophone section and blasting vocal harmonies, the Los Angeles-based group has won over fans with their wry and sometimes devastating takes on heartbreak, loneliness, grilled chicken, and minor medical procedures.
Their most recent release Fan On was received very warmly, capturing listeners with “smooth and emotive bedroom pop combined with DIY folk leanings to explore the bittersweet nostalgia imbued in the minutiae of the day-to-day. Somehow at once low key and blazingly expressive, distinctive and relatable.”
The band is currently preparing an EP to be released in 2020.
