8pm to 11pm

Renacimiento, an exhibition of new and past works by Luis C. Garza.

We are pleased to present the international debut of Renacimiento, an exhibition of new and past works by Luis C. Garza. The opening reception is on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 8 pm to 11 pm at 1640 N. Spring Street Los Angeles CA 90012 hosted by KGB Studios.

Join us for a first look in a series of timeless photojournalism, classic hand-pulled silkscreen limited edition serigraphs by Luis C. Garza, hand pulled by master printer José Alpuche published by Moby Arts.

Dormant, though not forgotten over these past years, the public offering of these iconic images is to re-thread pathways roamed, encounters made, and challenges overcome. Past is Present is Future, as re-imagined in the highly acclaimed Autry Museum exhibition of LA RAZA.

Photographer and Co-Curator Luis C. Garza was both a witness to and participant in the struggle for social justice whose efforts on behalf of this historic collection of twenty-six thousand negative images, now housed at Chicano Studies Research Center-UCLA, led to this tour de force presentation that fused groundbreaking photography, art, journalism and activism

Over the past few years Moby Arts has been working with Luis C. Garza to document a collection of seven images that are still strong today. Moby Arts is looking forward to continuing to publish Luis C. Garza’s body of work.
