Ólafur Arnalds is an Icelandic multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer whose work spans genres from classical to electronic and pop/rock. Arnalds released his major-label debut, the delicate and solemn For Now I Am Winter, on Mercury Records in 2013; it was his first album to incorporate vocals (those of fellow Icelander Arnór Dan, who sings on the record in English). Arnalds has done much soundtrack work for television and film, scoring the BBC TV series Broadchurch and contributing his music to movies including The Hunger Games. Arnalds regularly collaborates with Nils Frahm, a like-minded German artist who shares his ambitious, classically informed vision of electronic music and himself gave a well-received performance at Immanuel in April.
