Event Pick: LACE Online Benefit Art Auction

The arts and culture programs at LACE have been essential in Los Angeles culture for more than four decades, and while “now more than ever” is an overused phrase, when it comes to supporting their progressive, socially and politically engaged, avant-garde heart and history-minded perspective, it’s more than true. With their physical space currently closed, not only their programs but also this year’s world-famous benefit auction have migrated online.

Over 60 artists have contributed works (and LACE always shares auction proceeds with the artists). Bidding has been open online for a couple of weeks, and the silent auction goes on through Thursday morning — but the main event is Wednesday night’s live-streaming art-bidding, cocktails at home power hour. Master of Ceremonies Marcus Kuiland-Nazario welcomes surprise guests, DJ pastelShade, and a live auction of selected works with auctioneer Blake Koh, Director of Phillips. Register ahead to be able to bid. Wednesday, September 9, 7-8pm; welcometolace.org.
