It's not often that you get to spend quality time with a Dame of the British Empire (they still have those?) who is also a U.N. Messenger of Peace (they still have that?), but tonight's Evening With Dr. Jane Goodall brings you mezzanine-to-face for a rare theatrical moment with the world-famous primatologist. She'll share tales of her 45-plus years with the great (seriously, they're awesome) apes, and may bring out a few on the stage to show you what she has to deal with every day. As with the Disneynature-produced film Chimpanzee, which opened to great reviews earlier this year, proceeds will support the work of the Jane Goodall Institute. The pinnacle of her achievements happened this year when she officiated the 2013 Rose Parade as Grand Marshall, so you know it's all downhill from there. Warner Grand Theatre, 434 W. Sixth St., San Pedro; Fri., Jan. 4, 7:30 p.m.; $20-$75. (310) 548-7672, warnergrand.org.
