Europe Meets California: A Day in Solvang

Get out your wooden shoes and meet us under a windmill! We're spending the day in quaint and lively Solvang. Located in the Santa Ynez Valley and founded in 1911 by a group of Danish teachers, this area is a preserved piece of Denmark in California. Hop on a horse drawn trolly, sip wine, savor divine chocolate candy and shop til you drop — all for far less than a trip to Europe. All photos by Michele McManmon.
