Anthony Robles Arrested after Fatal DUI Collision in Orange County

TUSTIN, CA (March 4, 2021) – Tuesday morning, on February 23, 24-year-old Esperanza Cruz was killed in a DUI crash on 55 Freeway.

The crash occurred around 2:05 a.m., on the southbound lanes of 55 Freeway in Tustin. Emergency crews arrived shortly after receiving multiple dispatch calls in the area.

According to reports, a BMW sedan driven by 27-year-old Anthony Robles was heading south when he rear-ended a Lexus SUV. As a result, the Lexus overturned.

The Lexus driver was later described as a 22-year-old Newport Beach woman. She was later taken to a nearby hospital for further treatment of non life-threatening injuries.

Cruz, who was the passenger inside the BMW succumbed to her injuries and died on scene.

Robles was charged on suspicion of driving under influence. In addition, the highway was blocked for about two hours and 15 minutes, the CHP confirmed.
