Ernesto Avalos Facing Charges after Killing 5-Year-Old Daughter in DUI Crash on Colton

COLTON, CA (April 20, 2021) – On Sunday, authorities charged Ernesto Avalos for felony DUI after a fatal crash involving his 5-year-old daughter.

According to California Highway Patrol, Ernesto was traveling in a Toyota 4Runner in the 900 block of South Cooley Drive around 2:25 P.M.

Under unknown circumstances, the SUV rolled over a raised center median and drove past a posted stop sign before striking a light pole.

As a result, the defendant’s daughter, 5-year-old Alexa Adalia Avalos, died in the scene of the crash. Crews rushed the other child to a local hospital. Additional details about the other child remain undisclosed.

Police later determined that Ernesto had been under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash. He was arrested for murder, child endangerment, and felony DUI.

Lastly, the victim’s family put up a GoFundMe website for 5-year-old Alexa Avalos.
