31-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Rear-End Accident on Sunrise Way

PALM SPRINGS, CA (August 3, 2022) – Sunday night, Erik Verdian was killed and Kevin Atteberry was arrested after a DUI collision.

The incident happened around 9:07 p.m., at the intersection of East Palm Canyon Drive and Sunrise Way.

Per reports, Atteberry was driving south when he rear-ended Verdian’s vehicle while he was stopped at a stop sign. The initial impact then caused a collision with multiple other vehicles.

Paramedics arrived and pronounced 31-year-old Verdian, of Burbank dead at the scene. Meanwhile, crews transported his passenger to a nearby hospital with major injuries.

In addition, medics also took 57-year-old Atteberry to a hospital with serious injuries. Upon his release from the hospital, officers will arrest him under suspicion of DUI.

At this time, Palm Springs Officials continue to investigate the East Palm Canyon Drive DUI crash.
