A 19-Year-Old Student of California State University Northridge Died in Vehicle Collision near Lindley Avenue

NORTHRIDGE, CA (February 23, 2023) – Thursday morning, a police pursuit ended in a crash that claimed the life of Erick Barbosa-Guardado.

The incident happened on February 16th, at around 12:30 a.m., near Roscoe Boulevard and White Oak Avenue.

According to reports, two men in a Toyota RAV4 were wanted for armed robbery. Officers conducted a traffic stop for the RAV4 but the driver did not pull over. The Toyota drove away and ran a red light at the intersection of Roscoe Boulevard and Lindley Avenue. There, the RAV4 crashed into a dark green Honda Civic driven by Barbosa-Guardado.

First responders to the crash pronounced 19-year-old Erick Barbosa-Guardado dead at the scene. He was a student of the California State Northridge.

Meanwhile, the two people from the RAV4 fled the scene. The driver of the vehicle was arrested but the other occupant ran away and they remain at large
