Mayor Eric Garcetti is almost 100 days into his administration, but he has yet to fill one of the most important jobs in his cabinet — deputy mayor for economic development. Job creation is the top item on Garcetti's agenda, and so his office has hired a headhunter to do a global search for the perfect candidate.

The L.A. Weekly has obtained the confidential job description (after the jump), so now you can see if you meet the qualifications. Are you a “transformational and highly-respected, mission-driven executive”?

Do you think of yourself as a “progressive, accomplished business leader”? Can you “thrive in [a] high-profile public position with significant public and political scrutiny”? Are you “politically astute without being political”?
Probably not, but you might as well send your resume anyway. That's because if the person described here actually exists, chances are that he or she is worth a lot more money than the city can afford to pay.
The successful candidate will have a sprawling portfolio, with responsibility for overseeing workforce development, housing, tourism, real estate development, education reform, and the Port of L.A. and L.A. International Airport.
In addition, the deputy mayor will coordinate the mayor's policies on homelessness and “meet with developers, land use attorneys, lobbyists and financiers to facilitate and expedite housing and economic development projects.”
Sounds like a great growth opportunity for the right person, so you might as well apply.
