Mayor Eric Garcetti and Maria Elena Durazo had their differences during the recent campaign. Durazo, the head of the L.A. County Federation of Labor, blasted “Garcetti's dishonesty” on pensions, and attacked him for refusing to back a $15 minimum wage for hotel workers.

But now that the campaign is over, they're looking to patch up old wounds. Garcetti and Durazo recently had lunch at Casa La Golondrina Mexican Cafe, where they “discussed how to work together to

improve L.A.'s economy,” said Yusef Robb, the mayor's spokesman.

The lunch, on Sept. 1, was their first meeting since Garcetti defeated labor's candidate, Wendy Greuel, in the May 21 runoff. Robb did not elaborate on what they spoke about.
This week, Garcetti addressed the AFL-CIO convention, where he spoke broadly in favor of labor goals, including campaigns to establish living wage rules.
La Golondrina is on downtown's historic Olvera Street. Last year, the L.A. Weekly named the restaurant “The Best Place To Party With L.A.'s Political Elite.”
