49-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck in Hit-and-Run Collision on Victory Boulevard

VAN NUYS, CA (March 3, 2022) – A hit-and-run on Sepulveda Boulevard claimed the life of a homeless man Enrique Aponte Sunday morning.

For reasons unknown, Aponte was walking on Sepulveda Boulevard outside of a marked crosswalk around 4:10 a.m., just north of Victory Boulevard.

There, the pedestrian was struck by a passing southbound vehicle. Paramedics arrived and pronounced the 49-year-old male pedestrian dead at the scene.

As per the initial investigation, a Jeep Wrangler momentarily pulled over near the scene before driving away from the area.

At this time, officers are still locating the driver of the Wrangler for further questioning about witnessing the accident.

Police do not currently have a description of the suspect vehicle. At this time, an active investigation is still underway.
