A black man fatally shot on Monday, October 11, has been identified as 38-year-old Enrico Willingham. The shooting occurred on the 10900 block of South Figueroa in Vermont Vista just before 9 p.m., the Los Angeles Times reports.

Detective Scott Smith told the Times that police arrived to the scene after receiving a report of gunshots. They found Willingham, who had been shot, wounded on the street corner. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

According to Smith, Willingham was a known gang member. Police are still searching for the assailant. Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to call Detective Mike Levant at (213) 485-4341.
