16-Year-Old Girl Dies in Fatal Crash near 138 Freeway

GORMAN, CA (May 25, 2021) – Friday morning, 16-year-old Emmarose Sanders, was killed in a deadly rollover accident on 5 Freeway, near Gorman School Road.

The accident happened shortly after midnight on the northbound Golden State (5) Freeway, north of the Lancaster (138) Freeway.

California Highway Patrol arrived to the area shortly after. Per reports, Daniel Madsen of Riverbank, was driving a pickup-truck with five teenage passengers.

For reasons not yet known, Madsen suddenly veered right and struck an asphalt curb. Due to the impact, the truck traveled down an embankment before overturning and ejecting a passenger.

Sanders suffered multiple life-threatening injuries before she was later pronounced dead at the scene. Officers say she was a resident of Modesto.

Meanwhile, paramedics transported five other teenagers, including Madsen, to local hospitals for further treatment.

At this time, investigators do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a factor.
