What You Should Look For in a Fat Burner

There are some key things to consider when choosing your fat burner:

The way it works

The choice of products is endless when it comes to fat burners, and they all work in very different ways. Some work by keeping you feeling full, some inhibit carb or fat absorption; and others increase the number of calories burned in a workout.

You should consider what your individual needs are and what will benefit you the most. For example, if you think food cravings are your problem area, a product that focuses on suppressing hunger will work best for you. If you find it hard to break down carbs, you will need a fat burner that improves insulin response.

The formulation

Are the ingredients in the product effective? Some fat burners have an inadequate amount of vital ingredients. It is important to ensure that the product you select has been properly formulated and appropriately dosed.

We usually recommend that customers avoid any fat burner that describes itself as a ‘proprietary blend’ because this is a clever way of hiding dosages and ingredients. If this information is not made clear, it is impossible to know the true value of the product.

Proven results

You will be able to find good customer reviews and testimonials for any fat burners that have been proven to be effective. Watch out for any fake reviews by remembering that there is no fat burner with a magic formula; if the product has nothing but glowing 5-star reviews, you should question its origin.

About Elm & Rye Fat Burner

Elm & Rye diet pills claims to use nothing but natural ingredients. However, the dosages of the ingredients are not made clear and are hidden behind a proprietary blend. For example, when a product contains caffeine, customers need to be given the exact dose, so they don’t over-do it. We don’t think that a product that is $75 for just one month’s supply should come with these drawbacks. Especially when there are so many other great products on the market that are entirely transparent, this is why doing your research is so important.

Elm & Rye market their fat loss product as “the gold standard of quality gaining credibility from some of the largest scientific journals in the world.” But this claim is misleading because even fat burners that have been on the market for a long time are hardly ever mentioned in scientific journals. They likely mention some of the ingredients, not the product itself. However, without the dosage information, we can’t know how effective they are.

Ingredients

To measure the efficiency of a fat burner, we assess the ingredients and their dosages. But when these facts are hidden behind ‘proprietary blend’, it is difficult to review them.  But let’s try.

B Vitamins

B-vitamins give us focus and energy. They also help your metabolism convert food into energy efficiently, and this restricts excess fat storage. If this is lacking in your diet, supplementation can be beneficial.

Caffeine Anhydrous

Caffeine is a stimulant that can increase your metabolic rate and help to turn excess body fat into energy for exercising. (1)

Caffeine is undoubtedly an efficient fat burner, but the dosage information is crucial, especially for anyone sensitive to it.  Too much caffeine can induce anxiety, stress, and insomnia, all of which can slow down fat loss.

L-Theanine

L-Theanine encourages relaxed and deep focus by stimulating your neurotransmitter GABA and your alpha brain waves. (2) It can counteract some of the negative caffeine side-effects, such as a crash.

Green Coffee Extract

Green coffee is a type of unroasted coffee bean that acts like fibre, stabilizing blood sugar to reduce appetite and slowing carbohydrate absorption.

Green Tea Extract

Green Tea is a proven fat burner. It works by increasing fat oxidization (by as much as 17%!) (3). However, this will only be effective with the proper dose, so we can’t say whether it is active in this product.

Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha reduces the stress hormone cortisol. This can reduce any inflammation found within the body. It can be beneficial for anyone trying to lose weight, but again, only at the proper dosage.

Rhodiola Extract

Rhodiola is a type of apoptogenic herb that can reduce tiredness and improve your resistance to stress, and stress reduction can boost weight loss. An increase in stress can cause the body to hold onto fat significantly if it affects sleep. (4)

Coleus Forskolin

Forskolin works by activating an enzyme called cAMP. This enzyme promotes fat loss by increasing lipolysis and targeting stored fat in cells. (5)

Anything Missing?

This product is made up of some great ingredients, but it is impossible for us to assess its effectiveness because we don’t have the dosage information.

Some key ingredients are also missing. For example, thermogenic ingredients such as Cayenne Pepper boost metabolism, and Chromium improves blood sugar regulation. These ingredients are present in most of the best fat burners.

How to Use Elm & Rye Fat Burner

There are 30 capsules in every Elm & Rye bottle, and one capsule per day is recommended. Surely you can’t fit much of each ingredient into just one capsule.

Furthurmore, this may not be the most efficient way to burn fat. It is more common to need 3 or 4 capsules per day to keep your body fuelled with fat-burning ingredients.

Customer Reviews

Elm & Rye’s products were listed as the #1 best products in their respective categories in Discover Magazine. However, because the Elm & Rye Fat burner is a fairly new product, there is a limited number of independent customer reviews.

Furthermore, Discover Magazine promoted very different supplements before this. New products come on the market frequently, but their list of high-quality products has not changed much. Suddenly these products were replaced with three Elm & Rye products, which is somewhat questionable.

Why are they promoting a new brand that has not put the leg-work in to compete in the world of respected supplements? One with no evidence of proper research and testing and one which is more expensive than most other supplements in the current market?

What’s even more suspicious is that Elm & Rye products only have 5-star reviews that date back to January 2020, even though the Elm & Rye brand and website were only founded on December 25th, 2020.

Side Effects of Elm & Rye Fat Burner

Elm & Rye supplements contain an unknown amount of caffeine. Too much caffeine can result in insomnia, increased heart rate, shaking, anxiety, nausea and even elevated blood pressure.

You should consult with your doctor before trying this fat burner, especially if you have a condition.

Price and Value for Money?

You can only buy the Elm & Rye Fat Burner on the manufacturer’s website in the USA, Canada, and the UK. It retails at $75 for a bottle of 30 pills.

When you consider that there are many cheaper products available with more reliable reviews and are more stringently researched and dosed, this product is quite pricey!

The Good

  • The ingredient choices are excellent.
  • Green Tea, for example, is proven to boost metabolism.
  • Theanine and Caffeine work together for clean energy.
  • It includes apoptogenic herbs that reduce stress.

The Bad

  • No supplement facts are included.
  • The reviews appear to be fake.
  • The ingredients are hidden behind ‘proprietary blend’.
  • The ingredient doses are hidden.
  • It is a new company that has no proven track record.
  • $75 is expensive for what they are offering.

The Conclusion to Elm & Rye Fat Burner Review

Although this fat burner contains some great natural ingredients to aid fat loss, they are hidden behind a proprietary blend, so you don’t know the dosages. We can’t have confidence in this product without this transparency.

The fake reviews are also concerning. We would be more willing to recommend this product if we some genuine reviews that could back it up.

Taking into account the hefty price tag of $75 a month’s supply, we think that there are probably better options available.
