Solo-Vehicle Accident in Desert Hot Springs Kills 17-Year-Old Driver

DESERT HOT SPRINGS, CA (September 5, 2023) – Early Wednesday morning, a solo car crash on Little Morongo Road took the life of Elijah Garcia.

The deadly incident happened on August 23rd, at around 5:30 a.m., just south of 15th Avenue.

Based on the initial investigation, a southbound 2012 silver Honda traveled along the stretch of Little Morongo Road. However, the road was reportedly closed due to flooding in the area.

Investigators said the Honda crashed after driving over a dirt berm, causing the vehicle to catch on fire.

Emergency responders declared the driver dead at the scene. The Riverside County coroner later identified the deceased man as 17-year-old Garcia, of Cathedral City.
