67-Year-Old Grandfather Dead after Hit-and-Run near Ladera Vista Drive

FULLERTON, CA (August 19, 2022) – Early Thursday morning, Elfego Andrade was fatally struck in a hit-and-run accident on Chapman Avenue.

The incident occurred around 5:00 a.m., near Ladera Vista Drive.

Per reports, a vehicle was heading west on Chapman Avenue and struck the cyclist from behind. Upon impact, the driver fled the scene without rendering aid to the severely injured victim.

The suspect continued traveling west on Chapman, leaving behind debris after striking the sidewalk. Following preliminary duties, officers described the suspect as a Hispanic man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall with a stocky build. At this time, he remains at large.

Crews closed the surrounding area for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
