94-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck in Multi-Car Accident on La Canada Drive

SAHUARITA, AZ (October 22, 2021) – Sunday afternoon, a 94-year-old woman was fatally struck in a 2-car crash on Duval Mine Road.

Around 1:30 p.m., officers received dispatch calls regarding a serious collision in the area of Duval Mine Road and La Canada Drive.

Per reports, two vehicles collided, ejecting the elderly passenger onto the road. However, the events leading up to the crash remain unclear.

Paramedics located the 94-year-old passenger on the road with life-threatening wounds. Due to the extent of her condition, she was pronounced dead on scene.

Meanwhile, the drivers of the involved vehicles were taken to local hospitals for further treatment. Although, there has been no update on their current condition.

The road was closed until around 7:00 p.m., but has since reopened.

Police say impairment does not appear to be a factor on the two-vehicle crash, and an investigation is still underway. 

Authorities are asking witnesses to come forward by contacting the Sahuarita Police Department as soon as possible.
