Man Fatally Struck in Pedestrian Collision in Logan Heights

SAN DIEGO, CA (January 14, 2021) – Early Monday morning, an elderly man was killed in a hit-and-run accident on Franklin Avenue.

The incident happened around 3:15 a.m., in the 2000 block of Franklin Avenue. Dispatchers responded to the scene shortly after.

Police say a man in his 60s was walking in the area when a vehicle struck him and immediately fled the scene.

Paramedics arrived and transported the male pedestrian to a hospital where he eventually succumbed to his injuries. Although, authorities have not yet released his identity.

At this time, the identities of both the deceased victim and the hit-and-run suspect remain unavailable. However, San Diego Officials continue to investigate the Logan Heights crash.

The surrounding area was closed for a brief time during cleanup and preliminary duties before it was later reopened.
