Elderly Couple on Tandem Bike Struck by Driver near Hamilton Avenue

HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA (August 12, 2021) – Sunday morning, a man was killed and a woman was injured in a bicycle collision on Magnolia Street.

The fatal incident occurred around 8:50 a.m., near Magnolia Street and Hamilton Avenue, according to police. Officers arrived to the area shortly after.

Per reports, the driver of a 2005 Ford Explorer struck the husband and wife while they were riding along the road.

Afterwards, medical personnel transported the two patients to a hospital, where the elderly man succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, the involved driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigators.

At this time, Huntington Beach authorities are withholding the names of the victims. They were only described as a 74-year-old man and his 82-year-old wife.

The police are encouraging anyone with information about the bicycle-auto collision to contact investigators as soon as possible.
