(Updated at 1:25 p.m.) A 73-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murdering a 38-year-old woman in Hollywood last month, and he's also being looked at in connection with the slayings of her husband and daughter in 2008, Los Angeles police said Thursday.

The man was identified as Alberd Tersargyan, police said. UPDATE: The District Attorney's office charged him on suspicion of murdering the woman, with arraignment scheduled Thursday afternoon. A special circumstance, lying in wait, has been attached the allegation, which would make the suspect eligible for the death penalty if he's ever convicted in the case. The woman, Karine Hakobyan, was found dead in the driver's seat of her Honda CRV SUV in Hollywood on the night of March 26. Her husband, Khachik Safaryan, 43, and her 8-year-old daughter Lusine were killed in the area in December of 2008.

The wife's body was found in the 5800 block of Lexington Avenue. She apparently had a gunshot wound to the back of her head. Police initially were looking at a possible love triangle in connection with the homicides. It's not clear if the elderly man had this kind of connection to the victims, however.

Sources told City News Service that the victims were targets of “hits,” and that the murders might have been the result of a business disagreement.
