Pacific Beach Drunk Driver Injures Elderly Man on Electric Bicycle

PACIFIC BEACH, CA (July 20, 2021) – Police arrested a drunk driver after a DUI crash on Grand Avenue that left an elderly man injured.

The incident happened late Friday night at the 1700 block of Grand Avenue, according to the San Diego Police Department.

Investigators later determined that the electric bike appeared to run out of gas as the elderly man crossed southbound Grand Avenue.

As a result, an eastbound 2016 Hyundai struck the 65-year-old man on the electric bicycle. Eventually, medical personnel transported the elderly patient to an area hospital with skull and pelvis fractures.

Subsequently, authorities arrested the 26-year-old driver for suspicion of drunk driving.

At this time, the identities of the involved parties remain unavailable.
