68-Year-Old Man Killed in Hit-and-Run Pedestrian Collision on Riverside Drive in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS, NV (April 8, 2021) – Thursday night on April 1, police began their search for a hit-and-run driver after a hit-and-run crash on Rancho Drive.

The crash happened at the intersection of Rancho and Riverside Drive. Las Vegas Police arrived to the area near Vegas Drive around 8:30 p.m.

Per reports, a 68-year-old man was walking in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a northbound sedan. The impact then pushed the man into the path of second vehicle.

Following the hit-and-run crash, the driver of the initial vehicle that struck him fled the scene. However, the driver of the second vehicle stayed on scene and cooperated with the authorities.

When emergency crews arrived, they transported the pedestrian to a local hospital where he later died.

Rancho Drive was closed between Washington Avenue and Vegas Drive for several hours. But, the roadway has reopened.

Since the beginning of the year, this hit-and-run crash on Rancho Drive marks the 28th traffic fatality for Metro.
