73-Year-Old Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run near Cerritos Avenue

BUENA PARK, CA (December 13, 2022) – Early Monday morning, Eladio Balam-Poot was fatally struck in a hit-and-run on Valley View Street.

Authorities responded to the scene around 4:55 a.m., near Cerritos Avenue on November 15th. 

According to the investigators, a westbound vehicle made a right-hand turn on Valley View and hit a pedestrian crossing the intersection. Upon impact, the driver did not render aid and continued driving north.

Medics arrived and transported the pedestrian to a nearby hospital where they later succumbed to their injuries on November 28th. The Sheriff’s-Coroner’s office identified the deceased victim as 73-year-old Eladio Balam-Poot of Buena Park. 

Authorities also described the hit-and-run suspect’s vehicle as a pickup-truck resembling a dark-colored Dodge Ram with chrome bumper and wheels.
