Gendy AlimurungIt's a house shaped like an egg. For chickens. Who knew chicken farming was so design-minded? I certainly did not. The house is called The Nogg. Says the creator, “The Nogg transcends ideas of what a chicken house usually looks like. It is designed to encourage domestic farming while adding a touch of playful elegance.”
It's made of cedar wood, which is “fresh scented and naturally antibacterial.” The Nogg is also fox-proof, and you can get to the eggs by way of a hatch door. Oh, it's also portable (it has wheels). And the top is made of glass, kind of like a little skylight for the chickens. Also, it looks like a space ship.
The press kit makes for wonderful, wonderful reading. So, apparently chicken keeping “has become a huge trend in the last 18 months.” Says the designer, “It was upsetting to all of us how ugly, badly constructed and rudimentary the chicken coops were. It sparked a debate as to why we should be lumbered with an eyesore in our gardens.”
Yes. So upsetting. Huge debate. Damn those non-aesthetically pleasing chicken coops! Man, product designers. You guys are intense.
I really don't even want to know how much this thing costs.
