30-Year Old Man Injured after Train Strikes Car near South Lilac Avenue

RIALTO, CA (January 13, 2022) – Saturday afternoon, Edwin Herrera was injured after a train crash on South Lilac Avenue.

Authorities identified 30-year-old Herrera of Rialto, who was attempting to cross railroad tracks at 2:06 p.m. on January 1st.

Per police reports, his car was struck by a freight train heading west near the 300 block of South Lilac Avenue.

Furthermore, witnesses at the scene told officers the control arms were down and working properly.

For reasons unknown, Herrera drove into the opposing lanes and around the track’s control arms.

Herrera, the only person in the car, was taken to a nearby hospital. Moreover, the extent of his injuries are currently unknown.

Additionally the train’s engineer, the only occupant of the train, was uninjured.
