Man Pronounced Dead after 2-Car Crash near Melody Lane

BAKERSFIELD, CA (February 4, 2022) – 43-year-old Edward Valdez Rios was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Norris Road, Friday morning.

The collision happened around 7:19 a.m., just west of Melody Lane on January 21. Emergency crews responded to the scene shortly after.

According to the authorities, Valdez Rios was driving westbound in a Honda at a high rate of speed. Eventually, he collided with a truck making a U-turn on Norris road, west of Melody Lane near Cope’s Knotty Pine Cafe.

Due to the impact, medics pronounced Valdez Rios dead at the scene. Investigators say he was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Moreover, intoxication or drugs are not believed to be a factor in the incident. However, an investigation into the crash remains underway.
