37-Year-Old Man Pronounced Dead after Single-Vehicle Crash along Mendocino Coast
WILLITS, CA (January 13, 2023) – Saturday, Edgar Castillo was killed and Jose Hernandez was hurt in a rollover crash on Mountain View Road.
The fatal incident happened around 7:25 a.m., near Manchester on January 7th.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Castillo was driving a westbound 2020 Freightliner boom truck and failed to negotiate a turn. As a result, the truck hit a guardrail before overturning down a nearby embankment.
Responding medical personnel declared the driver dead at the scene. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office later identified the deceased driver as 37-year-old Castillo, of Elk Grove.
Meanwhile, paramedics transported his passenger, 24-year-old Hernandez, of Camino to Adventist Health Mendocino Coast hospital with significant injuries.
The family of Castillo also started a GoFundMe page to help with costs during this difficult time.
