Just in time for the controversy over raves and ecstasy, the folks from the Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies are in town for a weekend conference on the “The Impact of Psychedelics on Culture, Cognition, and Creativity.”

The gathering includes a Friday night party downtown called Metamorphosis that will present a panel discussion, an auction (which will have a first-edition signed copy of Albert Hoffman's LSD: My Problem Child and “laboratory glassware” from “godfather of ecstasy” Alexander “Sasha” Shulgin) and art displays.

Bring your pacifiers. Or not. It's taking place at …

… Temple of Visions, 719 S. Spring St., downtown from 6 to 11 p.m.

That's early for ecstasy talk. We'll assume there's an after-party. With glow sticks.
