The Eastsider L.A. relays a report from Los Angeles Garment & Citizen about a new and rather ambitious May Day march route from Echo Park to Downtown this coming Friday. This one's scheduled to leave Park Avenue and Sunset Boulevard (i.e., Taix-Brite Spot Square) at 1:30 p.m. and head east to Alameda Street. It'll be about three miles later by the time it loops back up Temple Street to join with five other contingents for a City Hall rally. (Specifically, across from the nearby immigration detention center at the Federal Building, 300 S. Los Angeles Street.)

At two-and-a-quarter miles long, a quicker march leaves MacArthur Park, while offering the added historic vibe of being in the same park as the May Day police riot from two years back. Other advantages include enjoying pre-march pastrami sandwiches at Langer's Deli — and the option of Red Lining it to City Hall by subway. The main march, a little more than one mile long, leaves from Olympic Boulevard and Broadway at noon. All times are Protest Standard Time. (PST)
