Last night, just before midnight, the awkwardly half-gentrified community of Echo Park — part gangster, part hipster — was plagued by a knife fight that moved from a restaurant out onto Sunset Boulevard.

The intersection given by LAPD Sergeant Patricia Milewski was Sunset and Portia Street, meaning the restaurant could have either been Chinese joint Phnom Penh or divey jukebox bar Little Joy, unless the fight drifted quite a bit.

Officers from the LAPD's Criminal Gang Homicide Division responded to the call at 11:50 p.m., so they must have assumed the crime was gang-related. One man had been stabbed 10 times when officers found him in critical condition. Both victims were rushed to the hospital in ambulances.

Were you partying or walking home on Sunset last night? Did you see what happened? Let us know. We'll be calling around the area to gather more information, so check back for updates.
