You can eat with the stars who will be attending the Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Los Angeles Shrine Exposition Center January 23. No need to wrangle a ticket, which would probably be impossible anyway. All you have to do is order a SAG picnic box from Tavern in Brentwood.

Chef-owner Suzanne Goin is preparing the antipasto plate that will tide attendees through the awards ceremony until the gala buffet afterwards. And she's having that exact food packed to go in a box that anyone can purchase at Tavern.

The A-list celebrities have to wait until awards day for a taste. The rest of us are luckier. We can buy the box now. Inside is no ordinary antipasto of salami and such but four stellar dishes that SAG officials chose in a tasting. They wanted room temperature food that would hold while guests schmooz during a cocktail reception. The A-listers won't picnic from a box. Their food will be plated, and they will sit down to eat during the awards ceremony.

Each plate will include slow-roasted king salmon with cucumbers, yogurt and ginger-mint chutney; grilled Colorado lamb tenderloin with French feta salsa verde; and a chopped chicken salad with romaine, endive, radicchio, apples, bacon and Roaring Forties blue cheese, accompanied by a Dijon vinaigrette. The fourth dish will be roasted winter vegetables with saffron couscous, green harissa and pomegranate salsa. There will be fresh-baked bread sticks too.

Goin and her crew will cook for 1,300 on SAG night, but they don't mind putting out extra effort so that fans can preview the meal. The boxes are $25 and hold a serving for one (or two light eaters). Boxes will be available for drop-ins, but advance orders are recommended.
