Eat Like Homer at Universal Orlando's The Simpsons

It takes watching just a few episodes of The Simpsons to know that food and drink are at times recurring characters and at other times plot devices. The doughnut alone has shown us various shades of Homer's vulnerabilities; he traded his soul for one in “Treehouse of Horror IV.”

As of Aug. 5, visitors to Universal Studios Orlando can taste a Lard Lad doughnut for themselves, in addition to tacos from Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck, beer from Duff Gardens, and, well, you get the idea. It's the latest round of additions to the park's adaptation of The Simpsons, according to Inside the Magic. They join Moe's Tavern, Krusty Burger and a handful of concessions called Springfield Fast Food Boulevard located inside a facade of Cletus' Chicken Shack, all of which opened earlier in June.

Here at the Weekly, we're unabashed about our appreciation for The Simpsons and, even if the real-life renditions (see: Korean beef taco) aren't calling out to us, the theme park is still going on our travel list.

So what can you dine on to eat as if you're Homer, Bart or Chief Wiggum? Based on a six-minute-long video tour via Inside the Magic's YouTube series, at Springfield's Fast Food Boulevard, you'll find re-creations of Flamin' Moes, Krusty burgers, fried chicken Cletus-style, pizza from Luigi's and fish and chips from the Frying Dutchman. A Caprese salad, a veggie sandwich, hummus and fruit cups are among the options at Lisa's Teahouse of Horror.

Outside of the indoor food court, you can grab beer at both Moe's Tavern and Duff Brewery. The beloved pink doughnut with sprinkles is available at a stand nearby. And finally, at Bumblebee Man's Taco Truck, it's a four-item menu of tacos, including fish, chicken and carne asada.

There's even a nod to Kogi on a menu — a Korean beef taco that's interpreted as an “Asian-inspired grilled skirt steak in a warm corn or flour tortilla and finished with a zesty cucumber and radish topping.” Which, upon reading the description, just makes us feel fortunate to have the real thing within reach.
