Alexander the Great reportedly wept that there were no more worlds left for him to conquer — a sad state of affairs that even today threatens to make the most enthusiastic gourmand cry into his deep-fried hummingbird tears. So, while you're staving off the inevitable sting of culinary indifference, leave it to the good folk at Cur-ATE to rejuvenate the intersection of mind and palate with Trail of Alexander the Great. Maite Gomez-Rejon of ArtBites leads a walk through LACMA's extensive collection of objets d'art paralleling The Great's travels from Greece to India. (Maybe they'll even trot out that Salviati engraving of Alexander kneeling before the High Priest of Ammon.) The meal, produced by Ray's and Stark Bar executive chef Kris Morningstar, envisions that voyage as a gastronomical magical mystery tour, with a wine menu designed by sommelier Paul Sanguinetti in case you want to drop a few bucks on a varietal that's more evolved than the relative Ripple of Alexander's day. Los Angeles County Museum of Art (BP Grand Entrance), 5905 Wilshire Blvd.; Mon., March 11, 6:30 p.m., $90 & $100. (323) 857-6010, lacma.org/event/cur-ate-trail-alexander-great.
