Police over the weekend were hunting for a man they said broke into a woman's Eastside home and raped her.

The creep broke in, undressed down to his underwear and attacked the victim, who had been asleep, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

It happened about 12:30 a.m. Friday in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, cops said. That's just steps from Mariachi Plaza, While Memorial Medical Center and some of the storied eateries of Boyle Heights' historic core.

Here's how an LAPD statement describes the crime:

While the victim was sleeping in her bedroom, an unknown male Hispanic forced her living room window open and climbed into her residence. The suspect removed most of his clothing with the exception of his underwear and then entered the victim’s bedroom. The victim woke up when she heard a noise in her room and she observed the suspect standing at the foot of her bed. The suspect then sexually assaulted her. The suspect dressed himself before he left the victim’s residence.

Cops said the suspect told the victim, in Spanish, “I'm just here for sex.” They also said that he jumped on top of the victim as she screamed and struggled and removed her clothing before attacking her.

Authorities say they're looking for a 5-feet, 4-inch, 150-pound Latino in his mid-30s with brown, wavy hair, brown or hazel eyes, and “a noticeable scar on his upper lip.”

He was wearing blue jeans, black trainers, a brown baseball cap and a gray hoodie with blue side panels, cops said. Detectives believe he speaks Spanish with a Central American accent.

Anyone with information for police was asked to call the LAPD at 877-527-3247.
