Woman Seriously Injured in DUI Collision near Avondale Boulevard

TOLLESON, AZ (October 13, 2022) – Monday night, police arrested Duse-Timothy Coates after a DUI crash on Interstate 10.

The incident occurred around 9:00 p.m., near Avondale Boulevard on October 10th.

For DUI related reasons, Coates lost control of his vehicle and traveled over the guardrail before overturning. Medics arrived and transported a woman to a nearby hospital with serious injuries.

Crews say the injured woman may need to have her legs amputated.

After his arrest, authorities found traces of methamphetamine in Coates vehicle. Meanwhile, authorities charged Coates with assault, DUI, and a probation violation with a $75,000 bond.

Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shutdown to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
