One of the biggest beer holidays of the year, St. Patrick's Day, is right around the corner, but the LAPD and the L.A. County Sheriff's Department don't appear to be resting up beforehand.

There are several checkpoints and DUI patrols planned for the weekend, including a two-day crackdown in downtown L.A. It seems like police want to clean up the streets before and after Sunday's LA Marathon, which starts at Dodger Stadium and snakes through downtown before heading to the beach.

Here's the 411:
]
Friday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will be operating a checkpoint on Victory Boulevard at St. Claire Avenue in North Hollywood.

Friday, from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m., there will be a checkpoint somewhere in the city of Carson. The L.A. County Sheriff's Department is not saying exactly where.

Saturday from 4 p.m. to midnight extra LAPD cars and motorcycles will hit the streets of downtown specifically to search for drivers under the influence. The department calls it a “saturation patrol.”

Saturday from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m. an LAPD checkpoint will be operating on Slauson Avenue at Vermont Avenue in South L.A.

Sunday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. there will be another LAPD saturation patrol downtown.

Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a DUI saturation patrol will be happening in the LAPD's Mission Division area.
