It will be one of the warmest weekends so far this year.

And the heat will be on the streets, too. Yes, it's time once again for our DUI checkpoint and patrol cheat sheet, in which the Los Angeles Police Department and other agencies warn you about where they'll be with the hope that you'll refrain from drinking and driving.

Many of you ask why we'd warn the boozers: LAPD believes that publicizing checkpoints reduces the number of inebriated people behind the wheel. So here's the 411:
]
Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a DUI checkpoint will be operating within shouting distance of the Grove, so watch out, ladies who like to get tipsy at the Whisper Restaurant and Lounge. The checkpoint will be operating at Fairfax and Colgate avenues.

Tonight from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. the L.A. County Sheriff's Department will be operating a DUI checkpoint somewhere in the city of Santa Clarita (it's not saying exactly where).

Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. USC students should beware: LAPD will be running a DUI “saturation patrol” in the Southwest Division area of South L.A. that includes the Trojans' campus. These operations involve extra patrol cars and motorcycles on the streets.

Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a DUI checkpoint will be happening at Sherman Way and Laurel Canyon Boulevard in lovely North Hollywood (it's so pleasant this time of year).

Stay cool, people.
