Put April Fool's Day behind you, because when the po-po is deep in your rear view mirror, they're probably not joking around.

The first weekend of April will have the Los Angeles Police Department and other local agencies back on the DUI beat. And that means checkpoints and beefed-up patrols.

Lucky for you authorities are giving you some pretty good hints about where they'll be and when they'll be there. Here's the deal:

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a DUI checkpoint will be awaiting your arrival on Huntington Drive at Pueblo Avenue in historic El Sereno.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. a checkpoint will be in full effect on Van Nuys Boulevard at Kewen Avenue in scenic Pacoima.

-Saturday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. extra patrols will hit the streets of the LAPD's Southeast Division area in search of drunk drivers. That zone includes Watts, Harbor Gateway and the southernmost part of South L.A.

-Saturday from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. the L.A. Sheriff's Department will have a DUI checkpoint set-up at an undisclosed location in the city of Compton.

Be safe.
