You probably think that, after the Memorial Day Weekend smack-down that included hundreds of arrests in L.A. County, your friendly neighborhood law officers are going to take a break.

Wrong again, mojito breath. The LAPD never sleeps! This weekend they have two checkpoints waiting for you, including one in Silver Lake:

Tonight there will be a checkpoint from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. on Hyperion Avenue at Scotland Street in Silver Lake.

Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be another checkpoint on Manchester Avenue west of Main Street in South Los Angeles.

Why are we telling you this? The LAPD wants us to. They say that if you know they're out there, maybe you won't drink and drive. The department states:

The deterrent effect of sobriety checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes. Research shows that crashes involving.
