If seems like it's been a little while since the Los Angeles Police Department rolled out some of its driving-under-the-influence checkpoints and patrols, it has.

The LAPD skipped October's first weekend. Even traffic cops have to take some time off once in a while.

But the checkpoints and beefed-up DUI patrols are back and, given the time of year, we suspect this is just the tip of the iceberg as we head toward the holiday drinking season. Here's the 411 on this weekend's checkpoints:

]

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. a checkpoint will be waiting for you at Victory Boulevard at Bellaire Avenue in scenic North Hollywood.

-Tonight from 4 p.m. to midnight extra police cruisers and motorcycles will be on the streets of the LAPD's Central (downtown) and Hollenbeck (Boyle Heights and the real Eastside) divisions. The department calls it a “saturation patrol.”

-Tonight from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a saturation patrol party will be happening in the 77th Street Division of South L.A.

-Saturday from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. an LAPD checkpoint will be awaiting your arrival on Sherman Way at Owensmouth Avenue in enchanting Canoga Park.

-Sunday from noon to 8 p.m. a drunk-driver saturation patrol will hit the department's Harbor Division, which includes San Pedro, Wilmington and Harbor Gateway.

-Sunday from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. a saturation patrol will grace the lovely environs of the LAPD's Foothill Division area, which includes Pacoima, Sun Valley and more.

Be safe.
