The LAPD is springing forward with a whole mess of DUI checkpoints and drunk patrols this weekend.

The department publicizes these enforcement operations with the hope that you'll think twice about drinking and driving. “The deterrent effect of sobriety checkpoints is a proven resource in reducing the number of persons killed and injured in alcohol or drug involved crashes,” says the LAPD:

Here's your DUI checkpoint and drunk patrol cheat sheet for the weekend, starting with information about today's action:

-Today from 2 to 10 p.m. there will be a drunk-driver saturation patrol in the LAPD's Rampart Division area west of downtown.

-Tonight from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a DUI checkpoint at Sherman Way and Haskell Avenue in Van Nuys.

-Tomorrow (Saturday) from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. the LAPD will be operating a checkpoint at La Brea Avenue and Rodeo Road near Baldwin Hills.

-Tomorrow (Saturday) from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. there will be a DUI saturation patrol in the LAPD's Southeast Division area.

-Tomorrow (Saturday) from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. there will be a DUI checkpoint at Roscoe Boulevard and Whitsett Avenue in Sun Valley.

Oh, and take note, the LAPD says the locations of its checkpoints “are subject to change due to weather.” And we are getting weather.
